New In: The Latest Materials, Fixtures and Fittings
There are always new materials, fixtures and fittings coming onto the market. Here we pick some of our favourites to be announced in recent months
Istanbul Vanity Basin
This vanity basin is part of a slew of updates to bathroom brand VitrA’s Istanbul collecton, which is the brainchild of British designer Ross Lovegrove. Drawing inspiration from the Turkish city alongside natural, organic shapes, it features delicate metallic legs paired with a ceramic washbasin that is available in both white and black.
Capsule Alas Pendant
Part of the ‘Capsule’ collection, a lighting range from Cameron Design House in partnership with 2LG, the Capsule Alas pendant is designed to bring a modern edge to period architecture. Providing a stylish twist on the strip light, it provides multi-directional illumination with a stark quality that pairs well with raw and detailed finishes.
Encaustic Tiles
Architecture collective Assemble’s Granby Workshop creates these tiles using the encaustic method, which prevents wearing over time. Featuring materials including iron and cobalt, they are available in striking, bright shades. The tiles are also frost-proof and non-slip, making them ideal for both external and internal projects.
Glazed Steel Sinks
Part of a collection by Dornbracht, these glazed steel kitchen sinks are available in black, white and – unusually – sand. Designed to pair effectively with both dark and light worktops, they are also available in matt and gloss finishes. In all cases, the sinks are scratch-resistant, and feature a matching basin drainage cover.
Brera Radiator
Part of a collection of cast-iron radiators by Scirocco H, this radiator is designed for urban, post-industrial and contemporary designs. Available in 550mm and 750mm heights, Brera features a classic style with an industrial edge. The radiator is available in both soft and pure metal finishes, and can be ordered in 67 different shades.
